In the Chicago area, the Metropolitan Sewer District came across a $669,000 sewer pipe rehab project in the cold winter month of November. This project affected a dapper neighborhood of 1,629 households and would be completed by late August. This neighborhood consisted of 235 manholes which allowed groundwater to seep into 2,000 feet of cracked sewer pipes that included 24 sewer line point repairs. The “pricing” involvement of this project was that the town had all 24 sewer lines dug up and replaced, disturbing 4 neighbors’ yards and 20 sections of the neighborhood streets.
