Lake Zurich Begins Sewer Lining Project. The city of Lake Zurich has been given the go-ahead on long awaited sewer repairs. The 14-foot section of a sanitary sewer line collapsed nearly 7 months ago in the residential neighborhood of Long Grove. The culprit is thought to be the amount of water flowing from the Quentin Road lift station, provoking the collapse of the associated sewer line and the subsequent corrosion of pipe at Cuba Road. The task of rehabilitating the sewer line was recently revised to include augmenting the pipeline by 1,700 feet, at an additional cost of up to nearly $1.1 million. During the re-televising and cleaning of the sewer line, a greater amount of damage was uncovered, prompting the modification. The additional 1,700 feet of lining will extend to Route 83. Upon completion of the sewer line repair at Cuba Road, the city will also begin the re-lining of the sanitary sewer along Route 22. Previously, the city incurred $1 million in emergency repairs after the sewer collapsed on two separate occasions within a span of three years. The overall cost of the two projects is expected to reach $4.2 million. The sewer overhaul is presumed to be in the final phase prior to the start of the summer season.
