An extensive infrastructure project on Elgin’s northeast side will rehab streets that are deteriorating, such as part of Plum Street. Plum, St. John and adjacent side streets were largely developed in the late 1800s, with the sewer and water mains most likely dating back to the 1920s – 1940s. Tasks that are being renovated include replacing curb and gutter, sidewalk and drive approaches. The project will also encompass the installation of 500 feet of new storm sewer. Other related projects include 1.5 miles of street rehab, 1.5 miles or water main work, and 400 feet of sewer replacement in the Easy Street/Lin Lor Lane neighborhood on the west side.
More nearby sewer work… the City of Chicago’s Department of Water Management crews will be installing 2841 feet of new 24-inch, 30-inch and 48-inch main on N. Greenview, from W. Belmont to W. Roscoe and W. Roscoe from N. Janssen to N. Marshfield. Crews recently began installing the new sewer main this month and expect completion of the project by mid-May of this year. Restoration of the street opening, curbs and parkway will follow at the end of the sewer main rehabilitation. Completion dates may be adjusted depending upon weather conditions.
